I’m a proud Aggie Graduate with a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University – College Station. My area of expertise during my time at STIHL is product research and development. During my time at Stanley Black and Decker (SBD), I worked on development of outer rotor brushless electric DC motors used in zero-turn commercial ride-on lawn mowers.
I chose a career in Mechanical Engineering because I love creating things that make life easier. Through my strong background in ME and professional experience at STIHL and SBD, I’m on track to become an industrial expert in the mechanical engineering domain.
Outside of work, I have fun playing soccer. I enjoy gaming too!

1. Kevin Pulley, Engineering Manager at Stanley Black and Decker
“I am delighted to recommend Abishek Thilak, who was an outstanding member of the motors development team at Stanley Black & Decker’s Outdoor Products Group. Abishek consistently demonstrated exceptional skills in mechanical design, manufacturing, and energy management.
During his tenure from July 2021 to May 2024, Abishek made significant contributions to the design and testing of motors and components for ride on commercial lawn mowers and set to launch in 2025. His efforts included building and integrating over 250 motor prototypes for cut testing, drivability and feedback, which were crucial for identifying performance and eliminating motor failure root causes.
Abishek’s proficiency with CATIA V5 allowed him to design various fixtures and motor components essential for testing and new product development. His innovative implementation of chip indirect sensing using calibration software resulted in a remarkable 10% increase in motor efficiency. Additionally, his analytical skills with Minitab helped uncover reasons for motor performance reductions by plotting the variance of motor back drive angles for hall signals U, V, and W.
As a manager, I appreciated Abishek’s organization, detail orientation, and task-focused approach. He kept meticulous notes on his tasks and their statuses, communicated potential roadblocks openly, and excelled in problem-solving. Abishek quickly grasped new concepts and was both well-liked and respected by his peers, thanks to his personable nature and intelligence.
Abishek Thilak is a valuable asset to any team, and I highly recommend him for any position that requires a talented and dedicated mechanical engineer.”
2. Mark Clementi, Project Engineer at Stanley Black and Decker
“I had the pleasure of being Abishek’s manager while working at Stanley Black & Decker. His authentic optimism and engineering prowess helped him play a crucial role in the company’s continual platforming and Electrification strategies. He quickly became one of the “go-to” guys for our new motor sensing hardware and was always quick to jump on an opportunity to get hands-on with developing a new lab test, fixture, or to build a motor prototype.
Abi does an excellent job of prioritizing tasks without relying on a manager to break down the exact order of what he should work on. He takes full responsibility for what he is tasked with and sees things through until completion. I highly recommend him and he made my job as a manager easy!”
